(KLIX)-130 inmates have been taken out of Idaho prisons and jails. They all went to the Kit Carson Correctional Center in Burlington Colorado. Some went by chartered bus, others were flown there by a chartered jet. Idaho Department of Correction Director Brent Reinke said he knows how hard it is on inmate families, but he said Idaho is running out of room. In 2011 the states prison population started growing. The department of correction began renting out jail space and opening up other areas to house inmates. By April of this year the inmate population reached more than 8-thousand. The department decided to seek bids from outside companies to house inmates. They chose the Colorado center which could take up to 768 Idaho inmates. Inmates shipped out could spend several years out of state.
