BOISE (KTVB) -- A Boise church built in the 1940s is no more.

Whitney United Methodist Church off of Overland Road was demolished Tuesday morning.

The church has sat vacant since last fall when the group moved into their new home.

But don't worry, parts of the historic church will still live on.

"We kept the doors, with the Methodist cross and flame. We kept the steeple, which they took down for us," said Pastor Christina Thompson.

Thompson hopes to turn the property for the short term into a place were people can gather, but eventually she says they will rebuild either a sanctuary or an education building.
