BOISE -- A semi truck carrying over 39,000 pounds of frozen beef -- some of it hamburger patties -- crashed and plunged into the Snake River Thursday. Corporal Kris Barnes with the Idaho State Police says the accident happened after the driver, 58-year-old Bruce D. Fitzgerald, of Shelley failed to negotiate a curve on US 26 near Swan Valley Thursday morning. The area is known as Rainey Creek. Police say the truck was partially in the river after the crash. The driver was taken to an Idaho Falls hospital with unknown injuries. It's unknown if the truck leaked any fuel into the river. The accident blocked traffic in the eastbound lane of US 26 throughout Thursday morning and part of the afternoon. Reports indicate boxes of frozen hamburger patties were floating down the river after the crash. Via KTVB
