There are 40 million people living in California and 50,000 in Twin Falls.

It’s because people come from as far away as Elko and Stanley to shop here.

California does 20 billion dollars a year in agricultural revenue.  Twin Falls does between one and two billion dollars a year in retail and grocery sales.  You do the math!  It’s because people come from as far away as Elko and Stanley to shop here.  No city in Idaho and few in the west generate as much revenue as Twin Falls from outside shoppers.  Idaho Falls draws traffic from the Teton Region and still only matches roughly two-thirds of the revenue of Twin Falls.

Over the weekend, I visited Jarbidge.  The remote community has few options for shopping, but every couple of weeks you can drive to Costco in Twin Falls and load up the bed of a truck.  Twin Falls growth is fueled as well by the growth of the region.  While some may not like the congestion, you could always find refuge in one of the mountain redoubts and visit twice a month for supplies.
