BOISE, Idaho (KTVB) -- The hearing on the "Add the Words" bill will continue into a third day. On Tuesday, 47 people addressed the Idaho House State Affairs Committee.

The crowd at the Statehouse was significantly smaller, but the comments were just as heated. Lawmakers have now heard more than 13 hours of testimony on House Bill 2. If passed, it would create protections for gay and transgender people in Idaho.

A total of 23 people testified in front of the House State Affairs Committee Tuesday morning. During the evening round from 5 to 8 p.m. lawmakers heard from 25 more testifiers. They were overwhelmingly in support of House Bill 2, outnumbering opponents 22 to 3.

After testimony wrapped up for the night, Chairman Tom Loertscher told the crowd that the committee had closed sign-ups for testimony. Anyone who had already added their name to the list to speak will be given the chance, but going forward, no one else can sign-up to testify. In order to try and keep the hearing moving on the third day of testimony, Rep. Loertscher also said he's considering limiting each speaker to three minutes.

He told the people assembled in the Lincoln Auditorium that was something he's still considering, though. According to the committee's secretary, there are still about 190 people signed-up to speak who are waiting for a turn in front of the committee. Testimony will resume at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.
