BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The race to lead Idaho's public schools is getting a little more crowded. American Falls principal Randy Jensen formally announced Friday he's running for the post in May's Republican primary election.

Jensen attended Brigham Young University and is currently principal at the southeastern Idaho town's William Thomas Middle School. The current superintendent of public instruction, Tom Luna, hasn't made a formal announcement if he'll run for a third term. But already, Grangeville teacher John Eynon has filed paperwork necessary to begin fundraising for the post, also as a Republican. Eynon's big issue is halting new Common Core standards.

On the Democratic side, Jana Jones, who ran unsuccessfully against Luna in 2006, says she'll try again for the job leading Idaho's 115 public school districts. The primary election is May 20.
