Architecture Firm Says Ketchum City Hall Unsafe, Substandard

KETCHUM, Idaho (AP) — An architecture firm has recommended Ketchum demolish its City Hall, saying it is unsafe.

The Times-News reports that ZGA Architects and Planners has recommended the city scrape City Hall to make way for a new police, fire and city administrative facility, for which the firm drew up a conceptual plan with a $23.1 million construction price tag.

Previous studies of the City Hall as far back as 2001 suggested the building did not meet operation needs for police, fire and city officials. The building was originally a car dealership built in 1974.

City officials are considering temporary facilities at the parking lot north of the YMCA on Saddle Road during the demolishing and construction.
