Leaders in Sun Valley are considering banning all-terrain vehicles from its streets. The ordinance under consideration by the city council would also prohibit utility vehicles, off-highway vehicles and specific motorbikes. Officials say such vehicles pose a hazard to other motorists and pedestrians and create noise. Idaho law does not allow ATV's or other restricted license plate vehicles on state highways. But they are permissible on county roads, city streets with a speed limit of 35 mph and roads managed by the U.S. Forest Service. Sun Valley Police Chief Cam Daggett told the Idaho Mountain Express the vehicles do not pose a big problem at the moment. But he says use of the vehicles is growing in recreational towns like Sun Valley.
