Beckley Submits Application To Jerome County To Jump Canyon

Jerome, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Big Ed Beckley has submitted his application to Jerome County asking that he be allowed to jump the Snake River Canyon. The jump, planned around the 40 year anniversary of the failed Evil Knievel attempt, could happen this summer. Knievel made the attempt in September 1974.

According to Jerome County Commissioner Kathy Roemer’s post on facebook, there may be a jump near the Hansen Bridge on September 1. That jump will not require a permit because it would not exceed 500 people.

According to Beckley’s application his jump would take place on Sunday September 7, 2014, utilizing the premises he has leased from the State of Idaho. Beckley won the bid to the state, paying nearly a million dollars for the use of the land. Beckley plans to cap the number of tickets to be sold at 10-thousand.

Beckley also said he would like to reserve the Jerome county Fairgrounds for Friday and Saturday September 5 and 6, 2014 to hold a monster truck rally.
