Hailey, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - The Hailey Police and the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office are warning residents of the county to be on the lookout for a person who is pretending to be a police officer. Authorities in Hailey said that on Tuesday around 8:00 a.m. a Hailey resident reported that a man driving a blacked out late model Dodge Charger had stopped his vehicle on the north end of Main Street in Hailey. The vehicle was equipped with emergency lights. The person identified himself as a police officer and wrote a false ticket to the local motorist police say.  Now authorities are looking for the man.

He is described as being about 6 feet tall, 30 to 40 years of age. He was last seen wearing a tan Carhart jacket. He was described as skinny. His vehicle was a black Dodge Charger with tinted windows and no front license plate. The vehicle had emergency lights in the grill and a small interior emergency light on the inside visor.  The Hailey police remind residents that they do not conduct traffic stops in unmarked vehicles and all officers wear uniforms.

The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office say they do not have any black unmarked Dodge Chargers in its fleet. All vehicles have both front and back license plates starting with SD and a number. All deputies on patrol are in full uniform.  Authorities ask that if the person in the black unmarked car attempts to pull you over, to call 911 immediately.
