Blaine County, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office is seeing a recent trend in car thefts taking place throughout the Wood River Valley. Blaine County Sheriff Gene Ramsey said he believes the thefts are related to joyrides. Ramsey said in the past month and a half, they’ve seen about four incidents involving two to three vehicles each time. It appears the joyriders take one car to a destination, then steal another car, and sometimes steal a third or even a fourth vehicle.

"One of the things that concerns me about this, is I think this is young people just kind of going out for a joy ride, almost a ride of initiation. But they're going to get hurt sooner or later," said Gene Ramsey, Blaine County Sheriff. Even though these thefts look similar to a string of earlier joyride incidents, Ramsey said they don't know for sure if it's the same group.
