BOISE, Idaho (AP) — State officials say they've impounded a boat infested with an invasive aquatic species after it failed an inspection Tuesday.

The Idaho State Department of Agriculture says the watercraft coming into the state from Nevada initially failed to stop at a check station on Highway 93 just north of Jackpot. Authorities say a Twin Falls County sheriff's deputy stopped the boat hauler and escorted the vehicle back to an Agriculture Department check station.

Officials say the boat contained living quagga and zebra mussels. Officials say the boat will be released in the next 30 days after going through a complete decontamination.
