BOISE (KTVB) -- Students and staff were on lockdown inside Riverglen Junior High on Gary Lane Friday afternoon.

The lockdown was lifted at about 2:20 p.m., according to the Boise School District. District spokesman Dan Hollar said the students and staff are safe.

Police are currently investigating an incident near the school, according to the district.

Hollar declined to say what prompted the lockdown, and a Boise police spokeswoman could not immediately be reached.

Parents have been alerted about the lockdown. Students at the Treasure Valley Math and Science Center on the Riverglen campus typically finish their school day at 2 p.m., but were held inside the building until the lockdown was over.
