BOISE (KTVB) -- Fans attending Boise State University's home opener football game Saturday against Colorado State will have to pass through metal detectors.

School spokesman Greg Hahn says the new metal detectors are needed after Idaho lawmakers earlier this year passed a law allowing people with enhanced concealed weapons permits to carry guns on campus.

However, the law bans guns at large venues such as football stadiums.

Hahn says the school has purchased 50 metal detectors and 75 hand wands at a cost of $191,000.

Fans are urged to arrive early and expect longer lines.
