(KLIX)- Fire fighters are battling a fire in the South Hills about half a mile from Magic Mountain. According to a Bureau of Land Management spokes person the blaze is burning just west of the ski area in Thompson Creek Drainage. Several summer homes are under threat of the fire. Forest officials say the Thompson Creek fire has burned 650 acres in lodgepole and sagebrush. There are several fire engines and crew working on the fire along with several aircraft and heavy equipment. Investigators are trying to determine a cause.  The 500 Road between Rock Creek and the Shoshone Basin has been closed. The Cassia and Twin Falls Sheriff are on scene. Containment of the fire is expected on October 12th and full control is tentatively set for the 14th.
