Burley Man to be Sentenced for Abusing 10 Year Old

BURLEY, Idaho (AP) — A southern Idaho man has pleaded guilty to felony charges of sexual abuse of a minor child in a 2012 case involving a 10-year-old girl he abused while paroled from prison. Gregg Bedke, a 35-year-old Burley man, also pleaded guilty to battery as part of an agreement with the state.

The Times-News reports under the plea agreement the state plans to drop two additional felony charges. Bedke is accused of binding the girl with duct tape and having sexual contact with her in February 2012. The girl's mother has said she sometimes left her daughter in Bedke's care when she needed a baby-sitter.

Prosecutors will recommend Bedke serve a 10 year prison term, which will run concurrently with a sentence he's serving for a 2007 felony aggravated battery conviction.
