Butterfly Film to Take Flight from Faulkner Planetarium

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – Butterflies will be leaving the Faulkner Planetarium on June 24.

The last day to view the IMAX film “Flight of the Butterflies," which traces the story of the monarch butterfly, will be that day at the planetarium on the College of Southern Idaho campus.

“It is also the parallel story of Dr. Fred Urquhart, a Canadian scientist who became fascinated with the butterflies as a boy living near Toronto,” reads information from the college.

Dr. Urquhart dedicated his life to solving the mystery of where the monarchs went in the late summer and early fall as they disappeared each year. He solved the mystery, but it took him a large portion of his lifetime to solve it. These amazing creatures that delight us with their large orange and black wings overcome remarkable challenges to their long-term survival.

The Faulkner will offer reduced ticket prices on June 24, with afternoon and evening show times scheduled for 1:30 p.m., 2:30, 3:30, 4:30 and 8:00 p.m. Regular ticket prices apply to the 7 p.m. showing of “Dream To Fly” on that day.
