CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) — A Caldwell man has been booked on investigation of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer after police say he threatened them with two large knives.

The Idaho Press-Tribune reports (http://is.gd/KeKiH2 ) that police responded Thursday to a report of a man trying to kill himself. The man refused to speak with officers and barricaded his front door.

Caldwell Police Department officials say the man later appeared at the sliding glass door holding two large knives. He began sharpening the knives and put on latex gloves.

The man then opened the sliding glass door and did not drop the weapons when officers told him to do so. Officers used a beanbag shotgun and a Taser to stop the man. He was treated and transported to Canyon County jail.
