CALDWELL (KTVB) -- A Caldwell man who sexually abused three young girls was sentence Friday to life in prison. Margarito Rodriguez, 38, must spend at least 30 years behind bars before becoming eligible for parole.

Rodriguez was convicted of three felony counts of sexual abuse of a child under 16, one felony count of lewd conduct with a minor Under 16, one felony count of attempted rape, and two felony counts of manufacturing sexually exploitative material.

In addition to the prison sentence, Rodriguez was ordered to pay $5,000 in restitution to each victim and register as a sex offender. He was arrested in December 2013.

Police say the man had sexually abused the girls from January 2009 to October 2013. After his arrest, Rodriguez admitted to filmiing the abuse multiple times without the victims knowledge.

Deputy Prosecutor Erica Kallin had harsh words for Rodriguez.

"Mr. Rodriguez used his position of trust with these young girls to take advantage of them for his own sexual gratification," she said. "He robbed them of their childhood and showed a total disregard for their well-being. He is a predator and a danger to the community. As a pedophile and sexual sadist, there is no doubt in my mind that he belongs behind bars for a long, long time."
