Thousands of cantaloupes are being recalled due to possible salmonella contamination.  No illnesses have been reported in Idaho, but the cantaloupes being recalled were sold at Costco stores throughout the state.  The cantaloupes were sold between  March 10 and March 21.  They were sold in beige plastic sleeves containing three melons, with the Del Monte logo.   If you believe you purchased any of these cantaloupes, you are urged not to eat them, but instead to throw them away or return them to the store for a refund. The salmonella bacteria can cause serious, and sometimes deadly infections in young children, frail or elderly people, or anyone with a weakened immune system.
