TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – Students at Canyon Ridge High School remembered Vason Widaman in a quiet ceremony at the school’s rock on Wednesday morning.

The rock was painted by teacher Jeremy Belliston and his advisory students with the words “We will miss you VW.” During their lunch period, students toted gifts to the rock – flowers and candles – and stood in silence for several minutes. Assistant Principal Michael Gemar also helped decorate the rock.

The atmosphere at the school was returning to normal, he said, but it was still difficult for many students and parents knowing that one of Canyon Ridge’s own was taken in an act of violence. Police presence at the school has increased in light of Widaman’s violent passing, which occurred Saturday afternoon in a neighborhood not far from the school.

At a little before 4 p.m. Saturday, the 15-year-old was gunned down while riding his bicycle in the neighborhood. Police have yet to apprehend any suspects, but have asked for the public’s help.

“Any information — no matter how insignificant it may seem — will help our investigation,” Twin Falls Police Chief Craig Kingsbury said at a press briefing on Monday.

Gemar said Widaman, a freshman at the school, seemed like a nice kid and was always polite to him.

“All of the teachers who knew him said he was respectful to them,” he said.
