BURLEY, Idaho (KLIX) – At a little before noon on Friday, the Cassia County Sheriff’s Office received a call that about 100 bottles of pills were found on the side of the road at 600 W. Highway 30. It was one of many calls the sheriff’s office received that day and over the weekend. Among the calls Friday and Saturday were these, taken from the blotter of the Cassia County Sheriff’s Office:

March 11, 12:44 p.m. – A white dog was reported wandering in the vicinity of 110 E. 100 S. in Burley. The sheriff’s blotter for that call describes the result as simply: “Written warning for dog at large.”

March 11, 1:21 p.m. – Apparently you have to be careful who you give your car to for repairs. It was reported that one mechanic in Burley refused to return a car to the woman who paid him for service work. She said no work was done on the car and he wouldn’t allow her to take the car back. What’s up with that?

March 11, 1:22 p.m. – A Malta man shot his dog on Friday and then was “running around screaming” about it. Whether he shot the dog accidentally and was screaming for help or did it purposefully and was bragging about it the blotter did not say. However, the entry was listed under “Cruelty to Animals.”

March 11, 1:39 p.m. – If you don’t have the money for it, don’t fill up – you just don’t drive away without paying for your gas. But that apparently is what someone did Friday afternoon at the Smith’s Food King in Burley.

March 11, 4:36 p.m. – It was reported that a group of young people in a dark-colored Honda with chrome rims was “doing burn outs on the boat ramp.” C’mon, is there really nothing better to do, people?

March 11, 5:02 p.m. – The driver of an older model Chevy pickup, possibly an S10, was passing in an unsafe manner at milepost 240 on Interstate 84. The caller advised that the driver almost hit him while passing. When will people learn to drive safer on the highways?

March 11, 5:54 p.m. – A caller advised that “between BJ’s and the road construction in Heyburn on 21st there is a blue marquee (Marquis) parked with someone that appears to be sleeping in it blocking the lane of traffic.” Let’s hope the person was only sleeping and, if so, could someone recommend a good motel?

March 12, 2:41 p.m. – This Burley resident must have planned to cook some big ribs to call dispatch to report the smoke he’d be causing. The blotter reads: “Will be smoking ribs in the backyard, will call back when the fire is out.” The question remains: Where did this guy get his ribs?
