BURLEY, Id. (KMVT / KSVT) Budget cuts in Cassia County mean some at the Sheriff's Office will lose their jobs.

On October 1st, Cassia County Sheriff Jay Heward says he has to let go of three position; one in the jail, a patrol officer, and a court security officer. This is because he will be operating on a budget that is about $264,000 less than what he has now.

"Since when is it the responsibility of the sheriff and the county to generate revenue and make money? I'm not here to make money, I'm here for public safety and to give people the best service and safety service I can,” said Cassia County Sheriff, Jay Heward.

All of this is because the Justice Fund fell short, as revenue is down from the jail, fines and citations.
