Chickens Could Bring Jobs To Area

There may soon be a large chicken processing facility built near Burley.  Burley officials say Poultry Products International plans to build the processing facility near exit 208 and would include a $2.75 million dollar plant, a hatchery and other facilities. Officials say this one plant could produce about 1000 construction jobs over a two year period while the facility is being built as well as many permanent jobs after the plant goes into operation.  They say the plant could set up Burley as an international provider of poultry products.  Representatives for the city of Burley and the company are ready to take final funding information to Gov. Otter and various Idaho departments in the coming weeks.
