COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — A Chihuahua survived unseen for two days inside the mangled wreckage of his owner's van in northern Idaho.

A Kootenai County sheriff's deputy found the small dog, named Uno Solo, while re-examining the van at an impound lot on Monday. The Spokesman-Review reports the dog's owner, 85-year-old Marie-Claire Steinkamp, was killed in the crash on Saturday that Uno Solo survived.

Deputies had found a kennel in the wreckage, but the dog wasn't inside it. Uno Solo is now at an animal rescue shelter and looking for a new home.
