BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Boise Police say a 5-year-old has been taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries after a driver in a minivan hit him while he was riding his bike.

Boise Police spokeswoman Lynn Hightower said in a news release the driver of a minivan hit the boy Wednesday at about 4:30 p.m. at an intersection near South Junior High School. Witnesses told officers the minivan dragged the child about 40 feet before it stopped. The boy was wearing a helmet. Authorities are investigating.
