Think you’ve got a rough commute?

A 14-year-old boy and his younger sister in China endure a trip to school every day that’s just a wee bit more involved than waiting at the bus stop.

Yi Qiyun and his sis have to go to a school 21 miles away from their home, so they must overcome a trip that looks like a cross between something you’d see in Donkey Kong and ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.’

They must climb up a pair of 66-foot ladders sitting atop a cliff. For good measure, there’s a pit resting 230 feet below. You kind of get the feeling that after making it through all these video game-like obstacles, they should get a 1,000-point bonus or something.

Yu’s dedication to education should pay off -- h says that one day he hopes to build a road for his family and village.

We wish him well. After all, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step up a 66-foot ladder.
