TWIN FALLS, Id ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) Citizens take part in a dramatic rescue at Pillar Falls Saturday afternoon. Right before five o'clock the Twin Falls Sheriff's Office received a call of a man trapped in the area.

According to Sergeant Haskell, 25 year old Alex Cortez was attempting to slide through a chute of water when his foot got stuck between rocks. Recreators in the area held him above water while they waited for search and rescue to arrive. Roughly an hour later Cortez was freed and transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke's Magic Valley.

According to law enforcement, Cortez would have drowned if the citizens hadn't sprung into action. They urge people not to swim in the area as there are many hidden dangers under the water.
