BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Chris Petersen's return to Boise State will happen on a Friday night. Boise State announced on Monday that its 2015 season opener against Washington has been set for Friday, Sept. 4.

The game will be broadcast by ESPN, but no start time has yet been set. The matchup will be Petersen's first trip back to Boise since taking over as the head coach at Washington. Petersen compiled a 92-12 record and led Boise State to victories in two BCS bowl games before taking the job at Washington in December 2013.

Petersen went 8-6 in his first year with the Huskies. The game is the second half of a home-and-home series between the schools. Boise State visited Washington for the 2013 season opener.
