Common Core Failures

Common Core testing results are in and raise a question: Do students get dumber as they grow up? O.K., I realize it isn’t a fair conclusion but if you click here and look at the link from Idahonews.org you can draw your own conclusions. Not one grade level met projections, although. In grade school the children were getting close. Starting in junior high school the gap between projections and actual scores worsens. Not pretty. Other possible explanations may be there just isn’t enough time in later grades to teach to the test or the actual test takes a turn away from teaching. Opposition is broad across the state and is coming from several different directions. It’s one of those issues uniting people despite political and demographic differences. Here’s a novel thought and it’s called local control over education.
