SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Mental health therapists with opposing views on homosexuality plan to participate in a conference this weekend designed for Mormons. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that the Circling the Wagons conference is meant to build understanding between gay, lesbian and transgender members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and other members. It runs Saturday and Sunday in Salt Lake City. One speaker will be David Matheson of the now-closed Evergreen International. That organization worked with Mormons to help them diminish their homosexual feelings. Another speaker will be Lee Beckstead, a psychologist and former Mormon who contributed to a report by the American Psychological Association that found attempts to change a person's sexual orientation can be harmful. The conference will also include talks from more than 20 people from different religions.
