Craters of the Moon is a national monument. It's a good thing to be a national monument, but not as good as being a national park, apparently.

There is yet another group that wants to see Craters get the upgrade they think is long overdue. Jackson Hole News & Guide reported on the status of this latest effort.

The Coalition to Change the Name secured the endorsement of leaders from nearby cities, five contiguous counties, the Idaho Association of counties and the Idaho Senate in 2015. The issue died in the state House of Representatives without a vote.

Who wouldn't want Craters to get the bump up? Some farmers are against it since they're afraid the federal government will interfere with their business if that area goes national.

This begs the question again. Should Craters of the Moon become a national park?
