TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – Want to go river rafting? Better yet, have you wanted to become a whitewater rafting guide? If so, you’re in luck.

The College of Southern Idaho wants you – as long as you have as least basic experience – to learn how to become a guide on the Payette River.

Whitewater expert Shawn Willsey will teach Intermediate Whitewater Rafting from July 15-17 on various sections of the Payette. But again, basic rafting experience is required.

Individuals will be placed in situations they are comfortable with to build skills and challenges designed to test their abilities, according to a CSI news release. Participants will learn safety skills, how to read water, how to run a paddle crew and navigate a raft in various river conditions.

Participating class members will camp for two nights near Garden Valley. The course earns one credit. An additional course fee of $100 covers all transportation, campsite, food and equipment for the class.

For more information, contact Willsey at swillsey@csi.edu or 732-6421.
