JEROME, Idaho (KLIX) – Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?

Beginning this week, you can help Fido learn some new behavior and social skills at a dog obedience class, held 6:30-7:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday through March 31 inside the Messersmith Building at the Jerome County Fairgrounds. The class, taught by experienced dog obedience trainer Donna Stalley, is offered through the College of Southern Idaho-Jerome Center.

Through positive reinforcement, Fido – err, Red Rover or whatever you call your dog – will learn the basics of being a better companion.  Classes will include agility training, behavior modification and social instruction.

But the class is not for dogs only. Owners will work with their own dogs, empowering you as a more confident dog handler. Then, when you bring your dog home, maybe he won’t chew your slippers anymore.
