The area around Highway 30 and 2500 East was closed yesterday following an accident between a fuel tanker and a sugar beet truck. The accident happened just after 1:00 yesterday afternoon at Curry Crossing. A semi-truck carrying beets driven by 26 year old Eric Palmer of Twin Falls ran into a semi-truck with two trailers -- carrying unleaded and diesel fuel driven by 35 year old Cory Slippey of Rupert while it was stopped at a railroad crossing. Around 3,500 gallons of fuel -- both diesel and unleaded -- leaked from the truck. State HAZMAT crews responded to the scene to clean up the spill and worked throughout the evening and night to clean it up. Several agencies responded to the accident. Slippey was transported by ambulance to St. Luke’s in Twin Falls with non-life threatening injuries. SIRCOM dispatch said early this morning that the highway at Curry Crossing has now been reopened.   Idaho State Police say neither weather nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.
