President Obama and Republicans have apparently sealed a deal to avoid the nation's first financial default, but the plan could affect Idaho and most other states as well. Lawmakers from both major parities have discussed the need to cut or impose "caps" on discretionary spending over then next decade. That could mean wide ranging cuts in federal aid to Idaho, affecting everything from Head Start to Meals-on-Wheels. No word yet on just what maybe in the package.
