BLACKFOOT, Idaho (AP) — Officials in southeastern Idaho say a 4-year-old boy died after being struck by a sport utility vehicle near the football field at Snake River High School in Blackfoot.

Bingham County Sheriff Craig Rowland says Connor Covington of Blackfoot apparently ran into the path of the SUV Saturday afternoon as it was leaving the field where a youth football game was being played. Rowland said the investigation continues, but he believes it was a tragic accident. He says several people witnessed it.
