FORT HALL, Idaho (AP) — A Fort Hall police officer has been hospitalized after being struck by a fleeing pickup during a high-speed chase.

Officials say the officer sustained multiple broken bones and other injuries Monday when he was hit by the pickup while setting up a spike strip.

Bannock County Sheriff Lorin Nielsen tells the Idaho State Journal (http://bit.ly/1suEE0t) that the officer has been taken to Portneuf Medical Center and is expected to survive.

Officials say a Bannock County sheriff's deputy a short time later used a maneuver to stop the fleeing pickup and it rolled multiple times.

Police say emergency responders removed the two individuals from the pickup and they were transported to Portneuf Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Nielsen says they'll be booked into jail after their release from the hospital.
