UPDATE, 5:30 p.m.: Idaho State Police is currently investigating a crash on Interstate 84 in the westbound lane at milepost 178.5 in Jerome County. The crash has blocked both westbound and eastbound lanes of travel.

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – Idaho State Police is warning drivers to use extra caution on the roads and highways this evening.

There currently are multiple slide-offs and crashes occurring across south-central Idaho, ISP says. Drivers are advised to plan extra travel time, and ensure their vehicles are winter weather ready for travel.

Advisories have been posted for the Magic Valley region as well as eastern Idaho, where cold winds are expected to continue this evening.

“A cold front is sweeping across our area with exceptionally colder air behind it,” reads a wind chill warning from the Pocatello office of the National Weather Service. “Temperatures will plummet to the coldest they have been this season by Saturday morning. Avoid exposure to this cold.”
