Feds Release Draft Plan for Southwest Idaho Power Line

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Federal land managers have released a draft plan for two portions of a 1,500-megawatt transmission line that crosses public land in southwest Idaho and are taking public comments.

The U.S. Bureau of Land Management on Friday released the draft supplemental environmental impact statement for two segments of the Gateway West project that would each span more than 125 miles. The entire transmission line runs from Glenrock, Wyoming, to Melba, Idaho.

Eight segments have been approved but two remain for the project proposed by Rocky Mountain Power and Idaho Power. The BLM says the draft plan analyzes seven pairs of possible route combinations.
