BURLEY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) – A traffic stop led to the arrest of a wanted felon out of Twin Falls County last Wednesday. A Cassia County Sheriff deputy pulled Matthew Brooks, 21, over during a routine traffic stop on April 6 around midnight in Burley.

The deputy was advised Brooks had a felony warrant out for his arrest and took Brooks into custody, according to the Cassia County Sheriff’s Office. The deputy noticed a marijuana odor coming from Brooks’ vehicle. Brooks’ vehicle was then searched. Two handguns were found in the vehicle, one had been reported stolen.

Deputies also found 387.6 grams of marijuana and 39.2 grams of cocaine and more than $1,000 in cash in the vehicle along with other drug paraphernalia and narcotics. The vehicle was seized by the Sheriff’s office.

Brooks was charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of a controlled substance, felon possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and grand theft by possession.
