JEROME, Idaho (KLIX) – A power outage Thursday evening caused service interruptions at the Southern Idaho Regional Communications Center.

Emergency calls today, however, are once more going through SIRCOMM.

The outage was caused by a cut fiber optic line along U.S. Highway 93 between Jerome and Shoshone. CenturyLink, the 911 system provider, repaired the line at about 10 a.m. today.

The agency on Thursday initiated a “failover system,” which reroutes emergency calls to the city of Twin Falls dispatch center, so callers in SIRCOMM's coverage area were still able to receive emergency services.

SIRCOMM says it will review its processes for quality assurance and control purposes.
