Plumes of smoke rose above the Snake River Canyon near Shoshone Falls last evening as firefighters beat back the blaze that started near Dierkes Lake.  Firefighters from the BLM stayed on the scene during the night to make sure the fire didn’t flare up out of control.  The fire burned a section in the canyon on the north side of Dierkes Lake to the riverbank after starting around 7 last evening.  The blaze destroyed a tree overhanging a patio of a home but no structures were damaged.  Fire officials say it appears the fire was human caused but it’s not known if it was accidental or set on purpose.  That investigation will continue.
