JEROME -- Police are investigating what caused a home in Jerome to ignite Sunday evening. Jerome City Police tell KTVB the single level home was completely gutted by the fire. The home is located on Mountain View Drive.  The report of fire was called into Jerome dispatchers at about 6 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find the fire burning hot. So hot, in fact, that it melted the siding of the home next door. Two teenage children were home at the time of the fire. Police said their mother had just left to grab dinner when the fire started. Everyone, including pets, escaped safely. The fire is believed to have started on the rear deck of the home and it spread fast. It appears to be accidental. The family received assistance from the Red Cross.
