TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX)- Fire crews are working to control a fire that sparked 18 North of Gooding on Sunday at around 1:30pm. According to the Bureau of Land Management Spokesperson Josh Olson it has burn roughly 8,500 acres of brush and grass.

At around 3pm the fire crossed Highway 46 prompting officials to close the road North of Gooding. Several homes and structures had been threatened by the blaze but were not burned. Several residents chose to voluntarily evacuate, however there are no mandatory evacuations in place.

Resources committed to the fire include 20 engines, 3 dozers, 2 water tenders, 1 hand crew and over 10 various air resources. The fire has reached the Thorn Creek Reservoir but is still over ten miles from Magic Reservoir. Crews estimate containment on Monday, July 29 at 8p.m.
