(KLIX)-The Cave Canyon Fire was 100% contained at 4:00 pm on August 16th at 88,909 acres. The Eightmile Fire is contained at 211 acres. The Hot Well Fire is contained at 3,056 acres, and the Deer Hollow Fire is 97% contained at 5,440 acres. A Burned Area Emergency Rehabilitation (BAER) team is in place. New fire reported just before 5:00 p.m. south of Shoshone, Idaho at Notch Butte.  Shoshone Rural Fire Department as well as 5 BLM Engines, 1 Water Tender, 1 Dozer, 1 Air Attack and 2 Single Engine Air Tankers responded.  The initial update was 100 acres and growing towards the east.  An investigator is on scene to determine the cause. No further information is known at this time. The Idaho Mountain Express  says that U.S. Forest Service officials are reporting a 250-acre wildfire in the Enclosure Gulch area west of Ketchum, just seven-tenths of a mile from where the Castle Rock Fire started five years ago. Ketchum District Ranger Kurt Nelson said that in less than two hours the fire had grown rapidly from the one acre first reported at 3 p.m. this afternoon. The cause of the fire is yet unknown. Nelson said that winds from the southwest are pushing the fire into the area burned by the Castle Rock Fire in 2007. If it follows that path, the fire will burn slower and less hot, giving crews a chance to fight it. However, he said, if winds shift to the northwest, the fire could be pushed into the Deer Creek and Greenhorn Gulch drainages.

Meanwhile more people are being forced to evacuate north east of Stanley. Conditions at the Halstead fire have worsened and it’s moving towards the Yankee Fork Area east and downriver of Stanley. KTVB reports the Custer County Sheriff’s Office is urging people who live near the Sunbeam Store, including Custer Town and Jordan Creek, to Loon Creek Summit, to evacuate There are around 2,000 homes are in the area. The sheriff’s office says those in the area should be evacuated by 5:00 p.m. Friday.
