Firefighters Facing High Temperatures and Wind in Idaho

Fire managers say they've had some success putting in containment lines on a 340-square-mile fire in the southwest part of the state straddling the Oregon border. But containment is only 11 percent.

More than 400 firefighters are assigned to the blaze that's also drawn about a dozen aircraft.

In central Idaho, a 600-acre fire burning 13 miles north of Crouch in timber is the largest of three fires started when lightning moved through the area earlier this week.

In northern Idaho, some residents in Idaho County have been warned to be ready to evacuate due to fires that have consumed about 6 square miles.
