If it seems like there are more flies bugging you this fall, experts say you may be right.  They don’t know why, for sure, but they do have some ideas, including the long wet spring and the late dry fall.

And there really is no mass treatment for flies.   When temperatures drop, some fly species, including cluster flies or attic flies, try to get inside for the winter.  About the only advice from fly experts is to  keep doors closed and be sure screens cover windows with no holes are leaks. Take garbage out more often, and move the receptacle farther from the house. You may also try hanging a fly trap outside, or even inside in places where pets and children can’t access them.
