BURLEY, Idaho (AP) — The former vice principal of a high school in south-central Idaho has been sentenced to at least eight years in prison for sexually assaulting two students.

The Times-News reports 41-year-oldTara Bagley was sentenced Tuesday to two consecutive four- to 13-year prison terms. She earlier pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual abuse committed by lewd or lascivious acts on a minor child.

Prosecutors charged that Bagley had sexual contact with two female students at Burley High School over a period of about 18 months, starting in July 2011.

Defense attorney Robert Nielsen said Bagley's actions were due to depression that was not properly treated.

District Judge Michael Crabtree also ordered Bagley to pay a $5,000 civil penalty to each victim.
