BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden says a former eastern Idaho sheriff convicted of misusing public funds in a case involving a county-paid cell phone has been sentenced to 30 days in jail and ordered to pay $2,500 in fines.

Former Jefferson County Sheriff Blair Olsen was also ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution. He was sentenced Monday. In May, Olsen was convicted by a jury of three felony counts of misusing public funds.

He had been accused of providing his wife with a county-paid cell phone from 2010 through 2012. The attorney general's office says Olsen was replaced as sheriff days after his conviction.
